I have some odd habits—4

I like to hook my arm around the back of my head, hang my hand down over my forehead, and tug on my upper eye lid. Just something I like to do. I don’t know why. I usually do it when reclining and conversing, possibly also when thinking intently. Occasionally also in an upright posture, as shown in the present representation.

Annoyance: Graphite seems to loose its suppleness when converted to pixels.

Pleasure: I managed to make this more intensively drawn image by working on it for a single short interval on four reasonably good days. It helps that my arms have been a bit better.

  1. You're right that graphite doesn't translate well to pixels. But this is a really arresting image. I'm so glad you were able to do it!

Priscilla, I have followed your blog for a while. You are fantastic - always have been and always will be. Your strength is remarkable but knowing you - not at all uncharacteristic. I remain in awe of you and will continue to pray for you.

  3. Tiffany!!!!!! Wow. Blessings on you for commenting. Girl, I have LOOKED for you. I hope you are well. Thank you much for following my blog and for your prayers.

  4. hi Priscilla second time I visit,as I follow Michael Nobbs on tweeter and he mentions your cartoons. read about your illness and about your experience of Islam in your travel to Indonesia. Admire your courage and the way you write about your experiences kepp strong and all the best, your sketch is great and I do know someone that loves that position but I can't figure out today who it is all the best

  5. this isn't a habit, but it's a weird trait. my left arm is where my right arm is supposed to be. and vice versa. fortunately, my fingers are arranged in reverse order, so both traits are completely undetectable.

i continue to contemplate my plan to swipe your quite nifty brain, so that i can steep in priscilla talents. hmmm. oh my. this is a good plan.

  6. Wow. That looks freakin' awesome.

And I have a similar habit sometimes. Only I pull my eyelid outward, not up. :)

  7. Hi--long-time reader, first-time commenter.

I was blown away by this drawing. Though I adore your cartoons, I am so happy you've found a way to work on some more "intensive" projects.

We missed you this week! Hopefully Larry collected some good stuff that will give you a taste of it all.

  8. I have to make a 'Mom' comment here... and I'm not sure that I should, considering the difficulties that you already face.. but, here goes.
Don't keep pulling on your eyelid, as it has several tiny muscles that can be weakened over time. My uncle has permanently open eyes because he used to like rubbing his eyelids hard. The lower lid's muscles became weakened and now they hang forward, unable to meet with the upper lids. He has tried surgery, but they can't fix it.
I hope that you see this comment, as its an old post.
